This paper provides you with knowledge on financial reporting and accounting systems. You will learn to read and create trial balances. You will become familiar with the different items in the debit and credit columns and know how to identify and correct errors. In addition, you will be able to prepare and interpret financial statements. You will learn the difference between incorporated and unincorporated entities and the financial risks and consequences of each. In other words: you make sure the company makes healthy financial decisions.

  • Explain the context and purpose of financial reporting
  • Define the qualitative characteristics of financial information
  • Demonstrate the use of double-entry and accounting systems
  • Record transactions and events
  • Prepare a trial balance (including identifying and correcting errors)
  • Prepare basic financial statements for incorporated and unincorporated entities
  • Prepare simple consolidated financial statements
  • Interpretation of financial statements

Exam

The paper is to be concluded with a digital exam. The exam will have to be taken by the external examination authority ACCA. See www.accaglobal.com for more information on the planning and booking of your exam. Costs have to be paid directly to the examining body. Upon passing the exam, you will be awarded with the certificate 'ACCA F3 FFA Financial Accounting' by ACCA.

Types of courses

On average, the training takes 2 months to complete. Your training consists of 2 phases with a gap of 1 or 2 months between those phases, allowing you to process phase 1 and prepare for phase 2:
Phase 1: A block of 3 consecutive days to train the ACCA syllabus for this paper
Phase 2: A block of 2 consecutive days. Phase 2 consists of a summary of phase 1, the remaining syllabus and mock exams to prepare you for your exam

One day lasts from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. and is made up of 2 meetings separated by a lunch.
